EPIC SHOWDOWN IN HISTORICAL MELAKA

MELAKA (28 JANUARY 2015): Malaysia has been drawn together with Singapore, Indonesia and China in Group W of the ISTAF SuperSeries MALAYSIA 2014/15 which begins on 5-8 February at the Melaka International Trade Centre in Ayer Keroh.

For the record, the Malaysians lost 1-2 to Thailand in the last of ISTAF SuperSeries MYANMAR 2014/15 – the first leg of the ISTAF SuperSeries in the capital city of Nay Pyi Taw last November.

Defending champions Thailand are drawn in Group A with Korea, Japan and Myanmar, who emerged third in the opening act of the ISTAF SuperSeries. The Thais are poised to continue their stranglehold in the series.

In the women’s draw, Vietnam heads Group The and have Malaysia and Korea designed for company while the undefeated Thailand women’s team are placed in Group W with Myanmar and Japan.

The tournament draw for that men’s and women’s groupings was finalised last week under the supervision of the International Sepaktakraw Federation, with representatives from Persatuan Sepaktakraw Malaysia (PSM) and Asia Sports Ventures (ASV).

The long awaited results of the draw has blazed the trail for another epic showdown among the top eight men and top six women’s teams invited in order to participate in this ISTAF SuperSeries MALAYSIA 2014/15.

In a press conference announcing the ISTAF SuperSeries MALAYSIA 2014/15 which was attended from the Chief Minister of Malacca, Yg Amat Berhormat Datuk Seri Haji Idris Haron, ISTAF secretary-general Dato’ Abdul Halim Kader, said:

“The staging of ISTAF SuperSeries MALAYSIA 2014/15 in Melaka is just reward for the growth of sepaktakraw in this country. Successive sepaktakraw tournaments have placed Malaysia in the limelight for the sepaktakraw arena, and I am confident Melaka will arranged the stage for the ultimate lover experience for sepaktakraw lovers. ”

Among those present nowadays were Datuk Haji Ab. Rahaman Haji Ab. Karim, Chairman designed for Health and Sports Development, PSM chief executive, Dato’ Haji Ahmad Ismail, ASV Chief Operating Officer, Venu Ramadass and PSM secretary-general, Datuk Mohd Radzuan Abdullah.

“This historical city of Malacca rekindles old flames in the origins of the game. It was here, the earliest Malay Sultanate, which the game originated in the 16th century, and has today spread its wings around the globe, ” added Dato’ Abdul Halim.

He stressed that ISTAF SuperSeries MALAYSIA 2014/15 offers a unique opportunity to display Malacca as an attractive tourist destination with excellent infrastructures and sports facilities.

“The ISTAF SuperSeries MALAYSIA 2014/15 is held in Melaka instead of the Titiwangsa Stadium in Kuala Lumpur. This decision was made after much thought among members of the organising committee so as to provide the finest and all-rounded amenities for players and organisers, and also bring about a brand new atmosphere to the competition, ” quipped Dato’ Abdul Halim.

Asia Sports Ventures Chief Operating Officer, Venu Ramadass, said ASV is looking forward to working with PSM and the Local Organising Committee for the staging of the ISTAF SuperSeries MALAYSIA 2014/15, the apex of the sepaktakraw showdown.

“ISTAF SuperSeries Malaysia 2014/15 would be shown in High Definition (HD) – an initial for sepaktakraw, which includes Ultra-Slow Motion features to ensure fans are provided only most spectacular replays and action throughout our delayed and reside telecasts, ” said Venu Ramadass.

“This season views the ISTAF SuperSeries tournaments being streamed live in its entirety through our official website, www.sepaktakraw.org . This will allow a lot more fans across the world to watch and enjoy the overall game via the internet, ” he said, adding that they will introduce a dedicated mobile application to provide fans on all information.

PSM President, Dato’ Haji Ahmad Ismail, in echoing the ASV Chief Executive Officer’s statement, mentioned: “With a high level competition such as the ISTAF SuperSeries MALAYSIA 2014/15, it will be a challenging moment for our national team in our preparation to build a strong and fearful side for these upcoming tournaments. ”
