Malaysia Oust Korea B to keep Semi-final hopes alive

(11 March, 2016): The Malaysian sepaktakraw team is on track to qualify for the knockout stages of the 2nd Asian Sepaktakraw Championships after producing a convincing performance in their must-win Group B match, beating hosts Korea ‘B’ 2-1 at the Jeongeup Stadium in Jeoungeup-Si, South Korea.

Malaysia silenced the home crowd as their quintet of Sahidan Md Ali, Muhamad Nazmi Mohd Najib, Mohd Safarudin Abu Bakar, Muhammad Afifuddin Mohd Razali plus Norshahruddin Mad Ghani defeated the hosts’ Ko Jaewook, Park Jeonghyeon, Seongwu Yeongsu, Lee Junro and Hwang Yongkwan won 21-12, 11-21, 21-10.

After a disappointing group opener against Thailand yesterday, the nationwide team now needs to beat India in a do-or-die match tomorrow to secure a spot in the semi-finals.
