Published on December 8, 2014 by   ·   No Comments

The world of sepaktakraw is used to having players in hospital. Injuries are thankfully few and far between, but recently we have had Vietnam’s women’s main striker Le Thi Tham breaking her leg after falling badly after a spike, and of course Norshahruddin Mad Ghani injuring his right knee twice, the second time nipping his medial crucial ligament. Each of them are on the road to recuperation and we hope to see them at some time in 2015, hopefully in time for your ISTAF World Cup that is started take place in the second week of Might.

Awful news attained me this morning (Monday) however of Malaysia’s captain Mohd Syazreen Qamar. The 21-year-old feeder is currently within a critical condition in Tuanku Jafaar Hospital in Seremban, suffering from the thing that was first thought to be dengue fever but has now been confirmed as a case of leptospirosis, which is an infection carried when the victim comes into contact, through soil or water, with rat urine carrying the disease.

Syazreen Qamar, who plays for your province of Negeri Sembilan, continues to be the star of the Malaysian group for the past five events, coming into the particular feeder position and making it their own with his cool, calm play and excellent sets for whoever can be playing at the net, be it Hanafiah Dolah, Khairul Zaman or Mohd Zamree. He was captain from the team which had two go with points in the final against Asia at the ISS 2014/15 Myanmar simply a month ago.

Numerous fans have already posted in communications of support on Facebook pages within the hours after the news broke on Monday morning.

The particular thoughts and prayers of the whole sepaktakraw family are with Syazreen Qamar’s family at this most difficult of times, and we all look forward to seeing the particular agile feeder back on court and setting to perfection once more. Sport must take a back chair for the moment however , and the major thing is of course that he regains his health as soon as possible.
