THE ISTAF SuperSeries looks to Myanmar

SINGAPORE (26 AUGUST 2014): The Myanmar Sepaktakraw Federation has signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) using the International Sepaktakraw Federation (ISTAF), in order to host the ISTAF SuperSeries MYANMAR 2014/15.

The contingent from Myanmar visited the offices of Asia Sports Ventures, within Singapore, home to the ISTAF Secretariat. The ISTAF SuperSeries MYANMAR 2014/15 will be held in Naypyitaw at the end of October 2014.

Carrying out a short meeting regarding the hosting obligations, U Soe Naing, President from the Myanmar Sepaktakraw Federation, and Dato Abdul Halim Bin Kader, Admin General of ISTAF, signed the MOU cementing Naypyitaw, Myanmar, because the host for the 1st tournament from the ISTAF SuperSeries 2014/15. Mr. Venu Ramadass, Chief Operating Officer associated with Asia Sports Ventures (ASV), views it as a welcome step in ASV and ISTAF’s continued efforts to further enhance and develop the sport associated with Sepaktakraw internationally.

“We are pleased to announce that the ISTAF SuperSeries 2014/15 Season will open up with the ISS MYANMAR, to be kept in the capital of Naypyitaw. The particular Myanmar Sepaktakraw Federation has the support of the Ministry of Sports, and have absolute confidence in their capability to bring sepaktakraw to the next level. Myanmar has shown an excellent track record with Sepaktakraw, and we are less than a year taken out of the 2013 SEA Games, which usually saw the stadium packed in order to capacity for the Sepaktakraw event, ” said Dato Abdul Halim Kader, when asked about his thoughts on the ISTAF SuperSeries in Myanmar.

U Soe Naing speaking on behalf of the future host country, mentioned, “We will hold the tournament within the Wunna Theikdi Indoor Stadium, which usually also played host to Sepaktakraw at the 2013 SEA Games. The particular stadium was built specifically for sepaktakraw, and we are pleased to once again pleasant the best sepaktakraw teams in the world in order to compete in Naypyitaw. Having seen this kind of huge support for sepaktakraw on the SEA Games, we fully anticipate to see the stadium filled once again within October. ”

He later added, “Our Men’s plus Women’s teams are currently working hard within the lead up to the 2014 Incheon HARD ANODIZED COOKWARE Games, in September. With the ISTAF SuperSeries MYANMAR happening at the end of Oct, we hope to claim Gold before our home fans. ”
